How It Works

How clinics send records to Family Stork — the email mechanic

Every person gets one health story, and one private Family Stork email address every clinic already knows how to use. Tired of managing health records for yourself and everyone you love? Family Stork organizes them for you automatically.

In short: Every person in your family gets a private email address shown on their record (like yourchild@families.familystork.com). You give it to any clinic — pediatrician, specialist, lab, hospital. The clinic emails records to it using whatever email system they already have. The record arrives, files itself, and builds your family's health timeline. No portal logins. No uploads. No app for the clinic to install. Nothing for anyone to learn.
Step by Step

How does the email mechanic work?

1

Start a person's record

Create a record for your child, yourself, or a parent you help care for. Family Stork generates a private email address for that person — shown right on their record page. The address is unique to them and stays with them for life.

2

Give the address to a clinic

At any appointment — pediatrician, specialist, lab, urgent care, hospital — share the @families.familystork.com address. Ask them to send visit summaries, lab results, or discharge papers to it. Most clinics add it as an email contact in their system in under a minute.

3

Records arrive and file themselves

When the clinic emails a record, Family Stork receives it, reads it, and files it into the person's health timeline. Visit summaries, medications, immunizations, lab results, referral letters — each one finds its place. No data entry on your end.

4

The timeline grows over time

Every clinic that sends records adds to the same timeline. Over months and years, the health story becomes complete — checkups, growth, vaccines, allergies, milestones, conditions. One story from birth. Ask it anything.

Why Email

Why does this work when portal apps and FHIR sync do not cover everyone?

Patient portals (MyChart, FollowMyHealth, etc.) are tied to individual hospital systems. If your family sees doctors at three different health systems, you have three portals with three logins — and none of them talks to the others.

FHIR-based sync apps connect to electronic health record systems via API. This works well when a clinic is on a large EHR system that supports the connection. But many small practices, independent pediatricians, urgent care centers, specialists, and labs are not part of those networks.

Email is the one communication channel every clinic already has. The smallest solo pediatrician, the largest hospital system, the walk-in urgent care, the out-of-network specialist your parent saw on vacation — they all have email. They all know how to send a document by email. There is nothing new for them to learn, install, or configure.

The private Family Stork address works for every kind of record: visit summaries, after-visit instructions, lab results, imaging reports, discharge papers, referral letters, specialist notes, immunization records, medication lists, and anything else a clinic would normally fax, mail, or put in a portal.

Common Questions

FAQ

Can any clinic send records to the Family Stork address?

Yes. Any clinic, lab, hospital, specialist, or urgent care that can send an email can send records to the private @families.familystork.com address. There is nothing for the clinic to install or learn — they use the email workflow they already have.

Does the clinic need to install an app or sign up for anything?

No. The clinic just sends email to the address you give them. Nothing to install, no account to create, no portal to learn. That is why it works universally — every clinic already knows how to send email.

Can I also add records manually — paper records, photos, old documents?

Yes. Snap a photo of a paper record and Family Stork reads it using AI. The email mechanic handles records from clinics. Manual add handles everything else — the vaccine card in the kitchen drawer, the school physical from three years ago, the rash photo from the camera roll.

How much does Family Stork cost?

$99/year — or about $10/month. Free to start organizing your family's records.

Is this different from MyChart or other patient portals?

Yes. MyChart belongs to the hospital — each hospital system has its own portal, its own login, its own records. Family Stork belongs to your family. One address, every clinic, one timeline. Read more: MyChart belongs to the hospital →
