New Mexico licensed childcare programs — daycare centers, family childcare homes, and group homes — are regulated by CYFD (New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department). CYFD requires facilities to maintain current immunization records and health documentation for all enrolled children.

NMSIIS (New Mexico State Immunization Information System) is the statewide immunization registry managed by the New Mexico Department of Health. Providers report doses to NMSIIS; your child's pediatrician or local health department can access NMSIIS to print an immunization history for childcare enrollment.

Infants in licensed New Mexico childcare must have current age-appropriate vaccinations on file. The schedule is rapid — DTaP, Hib, IPV, PCV, Hep B doses are all due in the first year. An NMSIIS-verified record should be updated at every well-child visit and kept with enrollment documents.
The Hep A series begins at 12–23 months — first dose at 12 months, second dose 6 months later. Confirm both doses are on the NMSIIS record before enrolling a toddler in a New Mexico childcare program.
New Mexico's universal pre-K (UPK) programs follow the same NMAC 7.4.2 immunization requirements as licensed childcare. An updated immunization certificate — including completed Hep A series — is required at UPK enrollment. Contact your local CYFD office for program-specific documentation requirements.
