The portal problem: why your child has 12 medical records instead of one.

Why portals can't solve this — even the good ones

Common questions about portal fragmentation

Can't I just link all my MyChart accounts together?

Epic has a feature called "MyChart Care Everywhere" that allows some data sharing between Epic-based systems. But it only works between providers who are both on Epic, both have opted in, and both are configured to share. Providers on Athena, eClinicalWorks, or smaller systems aren't part of it at all. And even within Care Everywhere, the shared data is often limited to medication lists and allergies — not the full chart.

What about Apple Health or Google Health Connect?

These platforms aggregate some data from connected apps and devices — step counts, heart rate, some clinic data if your portal supports the connection. They're useful for fitness and device data. But they don't receive records directly from clinics the way Family Stork does, and they're not designed to hold a family's complete medical history across multiple children and providers.
